Our History

Oakshade Nursery was built in 1972 as a local plant supplier…when Shamong was a small rural town and Oakshade Road was a dirt road. Owner Larry Zimmer purchased the company and grew it into a full service garden center and residential landscape company.

As more homes were built in the area, demand grew and so did the business. In 1995, as hardscaping and patios became a major trend, Oakshade merged with Windswept Stone and added a new line of pavers and walls, PA bluestone, patio stones and much more.

In early 2000s, after receiving a degree in Landscape Construction & Design from Penn State, Steve Zimmer joined Oakshade. Soon after, we acquired Taurean Sprinklers from retiring owners, further expanding our offerings for local customers. In 2015 we added yet another service to our product line, as we merged with Town Pride Irrigation and Lawn Service. The new acquisition added professional lawn fertilization programs, pest/fungus control, and lawn renovation to our growing list of lawn and landscaping services.

Oakshade now carries a full line of products for all of your outdoor space design needs. Whether it be boulders, topsoil, and mulches, flowers and shrubs, or driveway and decorative stones, we are your full service landscape and nursery provider.
